In Zen practice, monks are asked to meditate on "form and emptiness". Place a cup in front of you and consider how it is both there and not there. It appears to have a shape, a surface, and a purpose, but at the same time it is empty-around and within this cup is space.
Spend ten minutes in direct contemplation of the cup. Don't try to come to any conclusions-in Zen meditation, the point is simply "to be".
