Stretch and Surrender: #45 Seated Calf Towel Stretch

Benefits: Stretches the calf and hamstring muscles. Increases flexibility in the ankles. Improves posture.

METHOD: Sit on the floor with your legs extended straight in front of you; hip-width apart.

Keep your back straight, shoulders down and away from your ears. Wrap a towel around the ball of your left foot. Gently pull the towel back, bringing your toes toward you. Don't bend your body forward. Hold for 15-30 seconds. Release. Repeat. Wrap the towel around your right foot, and do twice on this side.

Tip: Make sure that the heel of your extended leg remains on the floor.
