Dr. Crew's NLP Lessons #15

THE META MODEL

The Meta Model of NLP asks us to take complete responsibility for our sources of information.
We need to question these sources and see if they are absolutely reliable.

Whenever we speak to someone, we are getting THEIR view of the world, what has happened to THEM, and THEIR perceptions of THEIR model of the world. This can easily be witnessed by listening to someone without getting another person's view of the same situation and scenario.

Many of our own beliefs and perceptions come directly from what we were taught as well as what our experiences were as children. Many stereotypes and prejudices were born here. These need to be challenged, questioned, and thrown away.

The Meta Model dictates that we question all of our sources of information before we decide on what is right for us to do, say, or feel. We need to bring distortions of reality to our awareness. In this respect, we filter and encode our own perceptions of our own experiences.

Lastly, we honor our own truth, but, DO NOT MARRY IT! (If we cling to our perceptions, we are attached to them). We remain open to other viewpoints and perceptions and see if these feel like truth to us.

The Meta Model is based upon the belief that everyone has their own truth. We honor other's truths. We know that what is truth to one person may not be truth to another.
