Jacob--Update

So many of my readers have asked me about how our cat, Jacob, is doing. As promised, I will keep up to date with new developmen-ts.

Jacob continues to not look well at all. He is now, however, eating a bit more. I try to get home at least once during the day to give him his gel nutrition formula and feed him water via syringe. He continues to have severe edema in his extremities and has great difficulty walking at times. He gets out of breath easily. He is not grooming himself, so I clean him up at least 2-3 times a day. I really don't mind taking care of him like a baby right now. I believe it is my responsibility as a "parent" to care for him when he is so very ill.

He has an appointment with a specialist on Saturday afternoon. We were almost certain that he would not make it until then, but it appears our good care and his desire to remain alive has sustained him. He's tough. It's all so very sad.

I will blog again about his condition after his doctor appointment. Thanks so much for all of your kindness and compassion.
