How to stay hydrated in record-breaking heat: Drink 64 to 96 ounces of water daily.
That’s eight to 12 eight-ounce glasses!
During record-breaking heat waves, you need plenty of water to stay hydrated, especially if you’re not in an air-conditioned environment or if you’re working out.
Aim for at least 64 ounces — or eight eight-ounce glasses — of fluids a day. If you’re going to be outdoors in the sun, limit your alcohol intake, because it can dehydrate you.
Alcohol can also get in the way of your body’s ability to regulate temperature. Use extreme caution when exercising, and drink two to four servings of water per hour of activity.
