Cancer Patients and Exercise

Battling cancer? Exercise should be a part of your treatment plan.
To improve your outcome, aim for as much activity as you can.

Cancer patients should ignore the old advice to rest and avoid activity.
The American College of Sports Medicine says not only is exercise during treatment safe, but it may reduce fatigue and improve quality of life, physical functioning and even your outcome.

Growing evidence shows a link between greater physical activity and a lower risk of death among cancer patients.
Be sure to get the go-ahead from your doctors before embarking on an exercise program. Besides screening you for medical issues, they may also be able to recommend customized workout programs based on your ability.
