Dr. Crew's NLP Lessons #29

CONSCIOUS AND SUBCONSCIOUS MIND

Your subconscious mind does not know the difference between what is real and what is imagined, and does not process negative words directly. The subconscious mind has great difficulty understanding negatives.

The brain deletes negatives and works more efficiently with positive commands. The brain ignores the word "don't" in a sentence and only thinks about "do". If you say, "Don't think of a blue elephant", your mind has to think about one!

You can say what you actually want someone to do; think about the words they will be hearing. Say it the way you want it!

***Some examples:
"Don't shout." can become "Stay calm."
"Don't do that." can become "Try this instead."
"Don't miss your target." can become "Let me know when you reach the target."
"Don't worry." can become "Take the time to relax."
"Stop criticizing me." can become "Point out the positive, please."
"It's a problem." can become "I can do that for you."
"You can't miss." can become "It's easy to find."
"Don't take this route." can become "Go this way."
