Plan active vacations (or "staycations") with the family by going on walking or biking tours; visiting parks and playgrounds; planning day trips to botanical gardens, zoos or other walking-intensive places of interest; or even playing games of tag or flag football in the yard. Instead of lounging by the pool, see who can swim the fastest lap. Turning physical activity into a game keeps kids interested and makes it feel less like exercise.
