Blueberries help muscles recover from fatigue
When muscles are fatigued it has been long known that an increased level of "free radical" oxygen (these are byproducts of waste / fatigue which damage cells) is viewed in the muscles, which interfere with their quick recovery (and your ability to perform at your best).
Researchers from the New Zealand Institute for Plant and Food Research, exposed developing skeletal muscle fibers (myotubes) to various concentrations of fruit extracts, along with two compounds that induce cellular stress (which mimic what happens when you train). The team found blueberry extract to protect the muscle fibers best.
We have known for some time now about the power that blueberries have in delivering anti-oxidants, procyanadins and even age "slowing" resveratrol. These berries are a powerful tool to help enhance muscular recovery and enhance your peak performance.
