A Brisk Walk

A new study in the journal Appetite found that people who went for a brisk 15-minute walk ate 50 percent less when a bowl of chocolate was placed on their desk.
For the study, researchers deprived chocoholics of their favorite treat for two days, and then put them to work on a series of tasks while a bowl of chocolates was put in front of them. Half of the group was asked to walk on the treadmill before the tasks, and the other half was told to rest. Those who went for a power walk took in half the amount of chocolate as the sedentary bunch.
One possible explanation: Research shows that regular exercise encourages people to eat better. It also shows that it can reduce cravings. If you’re having trouble saying no to your favorite snacks, lace up your sneakers instead.
