Drink It

The Illusion of Control

Craving control leads to anger and unhappiness.
Life is to be lived, not controlled.
Powerful, positive change will occur in your life when you decide to take control of yourself instead of craving control over everyone and everything else.
Quite simply, the reason you are often miserable and stressed is because of an unhealthy attachment to certain things you have no control over.

 So let go.
 Release the tension and stress.
Realize you haven’t lost anything; you were never in control of the uncontrollable to begin with.
Control over other people and situations is an illusion.

Universal Paradox

Life isn’t perfect.
 People make mistakes.
 Let go of unfair expectations.
Stop criticizing yourself and others for being human.
If you feel like everyone is judging you all the time, realize that human beings often feel this way when they are too busy judging themselves.

Dieting can make you lose muscle as well as fat.
To help prevent muscle loss, fill your plate with leucine-rich protein. Leucine is an essential amino acid that can help you burn fat while maintaining lean muscle tissue.
Because the human body cannot manufacture leucine, you must get it in your diet. Great sources of leucine are fish, tofu, egg whites and chicken.

Standing Up

Some people will simply not like it when you are being yourself.
They will always be more comfortable with the person they imagined you to be.
Because what makes you happy supersedes what they think will make you happy.
 Do not disown your truth.
  Do not fear your originality.
Do not live in their opinions.
Decide that you matter and that there is nothing wrong with just being YOU.

The Gift of Absence

Victim Card

Adjusting your perspective to a place of forgiveness and gratitude allows you to no longer play the victim card.
When you continue to blame someone else, you automatically give control of your life to someone else and thus set yourself up to be a lifelong victim.

Not Reduced

Nothing is ever perfect, but we must remember that to live and to love is to change and to grow.
We can resist it all we want, but change is inevitable.
Growth, on the other hand, is conditional.
It only happens when we choose to embrace change one moment at a time.

According to a study published in the journal SLEEP, the more hours a person works, the less sleep he or she gets. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 30 percent of employed Americans get less than the recommended seven to nine hours of sleep a day.
Though you may not feel especially tired, lack of sleep could be affecting your performance at work. One study found that sleeping less than six hours a night was one of the best predictors of job burnout. Another study calculated that our collective lack of sleep costs U.S. businesses and medical centers $63.2 billion a year in lost productivity. In other words, you’re actually doing yourself — and your career — a disservice by letting work take away from your sleep time. Establish a hard stop time a few hours before bed and stick to it.

Mind Your Own Business

Forget about what others are doing.
Stop looking at where they are and what they have.
Nobody is doing better than you because nobody can do you better than you.
YOU are walking your own path.
Sometimes the reason we struggle with insecurity is because we compare our behind-the-scenes circumstances with everyone else’s public highlight reel.
We listen to the noise of the world, instead of ourselves.
So stop the comparisons!  Ignore the distractions.
Listen to your own inner voice.
 Mind your own business.

If you do what you have always done, you will get the same results you have been getting.
If you want to stunt your growth and feel stuck in the same place forever, keep making excuses.
If, on the other hand, you want to stop feeling trapped, you have to start doing things that make you uncomfortable, things you aren’t very good at.
  You have to stretch yourself.

Regardless of your age or stature, life is always filled with unanswered questions.  It is the courage to ask these questions and adventurously seek the answers that continues to give life meaning.  Have patience with everything that remains unresolved in your heart.
Try to love the unanswered questions themselves.  Do not demand all the answers; they cannot be given to you because you have to live through them.  It is a matter of experiencing everything.
Only when you do will you gradually, perhaps without even noticing it, find yourself arriving at the answers you seek.

“Peace cannot be kept by force.
It can only be achieved by understanding.”

Albert Einstein

Mindfulness Meditation and Sleep

Relaxation techniques such as a mindfulness meditation can help you let go of the day’s issues and unwind. Mindfulness meditation can teach you to observe your thoughts and feelings without judging them or worrying about their meaning. It also allows you to explore what you’re thinking without getting stressed about it.
This can translate into better control over your mood throughout the day, with less anxiety and worry when you’re trying to get some sleep.

Guilt and Blame

I've learned that the greater a person's sense of guilt,
the greater his or her need to cast blame on others.
