9/11

This is the 8th anniversary of the horrendous tragedy which completely changed the world as it was. I, like so many others, remember that day all too well.

My cousin, Christopher Pickford, perished (was murdered) that morning when the South Tower collapsed. He was a new FDNY member. His body was found finally on Christmas Eve, 2001. He was just 33 years old. May he rest in peace. His final moments on earth were spent attempting to rescue civilians from the burning towers.

It's a strange day, September 11th. There aren't any right or wrong ways to grieve and to heal. We all need to do what is best for us individually. In some ways, we were all traumatized that day in one way or another. Let's be gentle with each other, and with ourselves. Compassion heals all. Love conquers all. Hate can be defeated.
