People who eat nuts in moderation (up to two ounces a day) can enjoy a variety
of health benefits.
Eating nuts makes you less likely to develop heart disease,
type 2 diabetes, colon cancer, gallstones and diverticulitis. Nut eaters also
have lower lousy LDL cholesterol levels and less insulin resistance.
A new
nuts-and-longevity study showed that people who ate one ounce of nuts (about a
handful) daily had a 20 percent lower death rate in comparison with participants
who did not eat nuts.
