Nutrients From Food

There’s no evidence that extra antioxidants from pills will help you live longer.
Get your nutrients from food instead.

Most people don’t need to soup up their diet with extra vitamins and antioxidant supplements. If you eat a well-balanced diet that’s rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables and lean protein, you should be getting most of the nutrients you need. The two caveats to that are vitamin D and calcium, which most people don’t get enough of. Besides, research has yet to show that there are any true benefits to taking high doses of antioxidants. A Cochrane Review that analyzed 67 studies on antioxidant supplements found that they do not lower healthy or sick people’s risk of death. Supplement your diet with extra veggies instead.
