SILENCE YOUR MIND
Nature is silent in its own perfection.
The city pounds with non-stop intensity.
You are where you are.
Silence your mind in the pounding intensity and you will know NIRVANA.

Dr. Crew's NLP Lessons #13
SELF-TALK
In NLP, we become completely aware of our stream of consciousness and the statements we make to ourselves by our self-talk. When our self-talk is negative and punitive, we are setting this into motion as well as limiting ourselves and our abilities.
We can change this self-talk. We can do two things: We can challenge these statements we have about ourselves and the way we see the world by being contrary in our responses to these inner thoughts. By "catching" this pattern, we can truly change these thoughts.
The other thing we can do is to set other thoughts into motion by creating new statements and watch how doing this changes the way we see ourselves and the way we see the world and how we relate to others.

Simple Kindness: #15
GIVE GIFTS AS YOU WOULD LIKE THEM GIVEN TO YOU
We know that gift-giving needs to be caring and personal. But, we can lose sight of this as we buy presents for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, Christmas, Hanukkah, Mother's Day, Father's Day, graduations, and on and on.
We give some of these gifts with obvious love, but others without much emotional involvement. We need to remember, though, that each gift marks a special event for the recipient, and the way we offer our present can add or take away from the occasion and our own generosity. Whether we feel genuinely enthusiastic or not, for the short time it takes to give a gift, we need to act delighted to be with and honor the recipient.
REMINDERS
* Offer a gift out of generosity--no strings attached. Don't use presents to unfairly influence others or as a substitute for love, attention, time, or respect.
* Avoid choosing a gift simply because you would want it or because you think the recipient should have it. Be guided by what the person seems to really like, even if the item doesn't suit your taste.
* Select a present according to your means, not the economic level of the recipient. If you're too extravagant of too frugal, your gift may leave the recipient feeling guilty or resentful.
* Be satisfied with a simple "thank you". Don't look for strong or continued expressions of gratitude.
* If you haven't received a thank you note, don't automatically assume laziness or a lack of gratitude. The recipient may be appreciative but not disciplined enough to write, call, or may not have learned to make this a habit after receiving a gift.

Nirvana and Enlightenment #41
INTERNAL PEACE
Internal peace is a choice.
The world will give you a million reasons to NOT be peaceful if you allow external images and negative stimuli to dominate your emotions.
Next time you find yourself upset--stop everything.
Be still.
Let your mind rest.
Do not let momentary emotions control you.
Catch them and watch them fly away like a beautiful bird across a scenic horizon.
Understand that whoever or whatever has led you to this unpeaceful state is not worthy of controlling your life.
Allow yourself to feel peace--even in the most unpeaceful events and enlightenment will be yours.

What the Food Industry Doesn't Want You to Know # 11
CHEX DOESN'T WANT YOU TO KNOW...
...that its 100-calorie pack may be a rip-off. In 2007, a Brown University research study found that people ate the same amount of cookies and chips regardless of whether they ate from a large, multi serving bag or single-serving packs. The key factor: The actual amount of cookies and chips that people kept in their homes. Sure, self-control is still your responsibility, but here's the bigger secret: Companies often charge you double for snack-size portions.
Take Chex Mix Cheddar, for example, which costs 2.13 times more per gram when packaged in 100-calorie packs than when sold in a normal 8.75 ounce bag!
